A Brantford man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop conducted by the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in the early hours of January 16, 2025.

At approximately 12:35 a.m., an OPP officer observed a vehicle being driven in a manner that raised concerns about the driver’s ability to maintain safe control. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Kiev Boulevard in the City of Brantford.

Following an investigation, Grzegorz Rutkowski, 37, of Brantford, has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor

As a result of the charges, Rutkowski’s driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

Rutkowski is scheduled to appear in court at the Brantford Court of Justice on January 31, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., to answer to these charges.

The OPP has reiterated its commitment to road safety and is urging the public to report suspected impaired drivers immediately by calling 911. The police remind all residents of the dangers and consequences of impaired driving, which remains a serious concern on Ontario roads.
