The Brantford Red Sox, one of the most decorated teams in the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), are seeking new ownership, with Cosmos Sports & Entertainment leading the process.

The move comes as the 15-time IBL champions look to preserve their legacy while fostering growth and sustainability.

In an interview with BrantBlog, Cary Kaplan, President of Cosmos Sports & Entertainment, emphasized the company’s extensive experience in matching teams with the right buyers, highlighting recent successes with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Kitchener Panthers.

“This is the fourth IBL team we’ve worked with in the past year,” Kaplan told BrantBlog. “We’ve been in sports marketing for over 20 years, and we’re very confident we’ll find the right ownership group for Brantford. Even in the last few days, as word is getting out, there’s been a lot of excitement and interest.”

The Brantford Red Sox, founded in 1911, relocated to Brantford in 2023 and continue to play at Arnold Anderson Stadium in Cockshutt Park. The team has appeared in 27 league finals and claimed 15 championships, making them the most historically decorated active team in the league.

Kaplan stressed the importance of finding local investors to maintain the team’s deep connection to the community.

“Brantford is a close-knit city, and the Red Sox are a cornerstone of summer life here,” Kaplan said. “Typically, the best investors are those with a connection to the area—someone who understands the importance of the Red Sox to the people of Brantford and is committed to growing the team while keeping it rooted in the community.”

For Kaplan, balancing the team’s on-field success with off-field fan experience is key to sustaining the franchise.

“We tell any prospective owner that you need to make the baseball competitive, but you also have to make the fan experience enjoyable,” Kaplan explained. “Even on days when the team doesn’t win, the atmosphere—the food, the entertainment, the merchandise—has to ensure people want to come back.”

The IBL’s affordability and long-standing tradition make it an appealing investment, Kaplan noted.

“The league has a 100-year history, minimal travel, and low financial risk compared to other sports,” Kaplan said. “The Red Sox specifically are a great opportunity because of their legacy—15 championships, strong alumni support, and a passionate fan base.”

With the IBL season fast approaching, Kaplan acknowledged the urgency of finding the right buyer.

“This is going to be a very fast process,” he said. “If you’re interested or know someone who’s always wanted to own a team and has a connection to Brantford, now is the time. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Interested parties can contact Cosmos Sports & Entertainment at redsox@cosmossports.com to learn more about ownership opportunities. Eligible candidates will receive access to a confidential information memorandum, ensuring a transparent process.

As the team transitions to new leadership, the Brantford Red Sox remain a vital part of the community’s sports and cultural fabric, poised for continued success under committed new ownership.
