Hundreds of spectators lined the streets of Paris, Ontario, tonight to enjoy the annual Paris Christmas Parade, organized for the third consecutive year by the Paris Firefighters Club.

Against a backdrop of festive lights and holiday music, the event brought together residents and visitors for an evening of community spirit and seasonal cheer.

The parade, a highly anticipated tradition in the small town, featured a vibrant procession of floats, performers, and holiday characters. Santa Claus, of course, made a grand appearance to the delight of children and adults alike. Attendees praised the event for its ability to foster togetherness and highlight the charm of Paris during the holiday season.

“I come almost every year,” said Ken Skegs, who traveled from Brantford to attend. “The weather wasn’t too bad this time, and it’s always worth the trip. There’s just something special about this event.”

For others, it was their first time experiencing the parade. Andy McDonald, who lives on a farm just outside Paris, described the evening as a memorable introduction to the event. “It was excellent. Lots of people, lots of floats—it was just lovely,” he said. “It brings community spirit and helps everyone feel connected. It’s great for the businesses and for everyone to enjoy the season together.”

Angela, who lives near Paris, also attended for the first time and was impressed by the parade’s atmosphere. “It was a great parade—so many floats and such a positive energy,” she said. “It’s wonderful for the community to come together and just celebrate, setting aside differences for a night.”

Organizers worked hard to ensure the parade ran smoothly, with several street closures in place to accommodate the staging and procession. Ball Street, Burwell Street, and Arnold Street were closed from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., while downtown angle parking on Grand River Street North remained inaccessible until the parade concluded around 8:00 p.m. Despite the logistical challenges, the event successfully created an evening to remember.

With the Paris Firefighters Club at the helm, the parade has become a staple of the holiday season, showcasing not only the town’s close-knit community but also the efforts of local businesses and organizations that contribute to its success. As the evening ended, the glow of lights and sounds of laughter lingered, a reminder of the power of community to bring people together.

The Paris Christmas Parade continues to grow in reputation, drawing both loyal attendees and first-timers who leave with cherished memories of a small town that knows how to celebrate the season.
