A federal by-election is set to take place in the Cloverdale–Langley City riding on Monday, December 16, 2024, to fill a vacant seat in the House of Commons. Elections Canada announced that its local office in the electoral district is now open, officially kicking off preparations for the vote.
Residents of Cloverdale–Langley City who are Canadian citizens, at least 18 years old on election day, and meet eligibility requirements are encouraged to participate. Eligible voters must reside in the riding as of November 11, 2024, and remain registered to vote. Registration can be verified or completed through Elections Canada’s online service, by phone, or in person at the local office or polling station.
Voting options include casting ballots on election day, during advance polling from December 6 to 9, or early voting at the Elections Canada office until December 10 at 6 p.m. Voters can also apply to vote by mail by the same deadline, with completed ballots required before polls close on election day.
Elections Canada is hiring for various paid positions to support the by-election, offering residents an opportunity to contribute to the democratic process. Applications can be submitted online or through the local office.
Elections Canada, an independent, non-partisan agency, emphasized the importance of voter participation in the by-election, which will determine the riding’s representation in the House of Commons. For more information, visit elections.ca.
