The Grand Erie District School Board is organizing a series of regional interactive events designed to help families prepare their children for kindergarten this September.
The Kick-Start to Kindergarten initiative aims to provide parents and guardians with resources, support, and an opportunity to connect with educators and community partners.
“Starting kindergarten is an exciting milestone, and these events are a chance to ask questions and meet our dedicated educators, access valuable community and board resources, and connect with other families in the area,” said JoAnna Roberto, Director of Education.
“We’re thrilled to be offering events to families across our region this year.”
Families attending the events will have the opportunity to engage with local organizations, including the Look See developmental screening program. Early connections with these resources can be particularly helpful for families considering further assessments through the Lansdowne Children’s Centre or Haldimand-Norfolk REACH before their child begins school.
While families are encouraged to register in advance to secure a timeslot, walk-in visits are also welcome.
“Families will discover the active, inclusive learning environments that our schools provide, with the intention of fostering creativity, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning,” said Lisa Munro, Superintendent of Curriculum and Student Achievement. “This is a great first step on the journey to starting school.”
Kick-Start to Kindergarten Event Schedule:
• Brantford: February 26 at King George Public School, 265 Rawdon Street, Brantford
• Brant County: March 4 at Cobblestone Elementary School, 179 Grandville Circle, Paris
• Norfolk County: March 18 at Delhi Public School, 227 Queen Street, Delhi
• Haldimand County: March 27 at Caledonia Fairgrounds, 151 Caithness Street East, Caledonia
All events will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Families can register for a timeslot at granderie.ca/kickstart, and additional details on the kindergarten registration process are available at granderie.ca/kindergarten.
