Brantford Business Fined $4,000 for Fire Code Violations

A Brantford business has been fined $4,000 for multiple violations of the Ontario Fire Code following a fire safety inspection conducted by Brantford Fire.

907602 Ontario Inc. and Leonard Black, the owners and operators of The Gentlemen’s Club at 235-239 Market Street, Brantford, Ontario, pleaded guilty to several fire code infractions identified during a joint inspection on January 11, 2024. The violations included:

  • Failure to ensure portable fire extinguishers were inspected annually
  • Failure to conduct the annual inspection and testing of the fire alarm system
  • Failure to complete the semi-annual inspection of the commercial kitchen ventilation and fire suppression system

On January 28, 2025, Leonard Black was fined $4,000 plus court costs, while 907602 Ontario Inc. received a suspended sentence in Provincial Offences Court.

The Brantford Fire Department emphasized the importance of maintaining compliance with the Ontario Fire Code to ensure occupant safety.
