Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) West Region officers laid 292 impaired driving charges during the 2024/25 Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign, which took place from November 21, 2024, to January 1, 2025. The initiative, focused on removing impaired drivers from Ontario roads, saw officers conduct 1,938 RIDE check events across 13 detachments in the region.

In addition to the impaired driving charges, officers issued 19 warn-range suspensions. The results reflect a slight decrease compared to last year’s campaign, which resulted in 353 impaired driving charges and 55 warn-range suspensions following 2,446 RIDE check events during the 2023/24 enforcement period.

The Festive RIDE campaign is an annual enforcement and public education effort aimed at reducing impaired driving during the holiday season. The OPP remains committed to keeping roads safe by targeting alcohol- and drug-impaired drivers through increased visibility and awareness.

Police are reminding the public that impaired driving is a criminal offense and urging drivers to plan ahead by arranging alternative transportation if consuming alcohol or drugs. They also encourage residents to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1 immediately.
