The County of Brant is on the brink of completing its $400,000 fundraising campaign for the Wilkin Family Community Centre, with less than $15,000 left to raise. Officials credit strong community support and three major donations, set to be announced early next year, for pushing the project close to its goal.

“The amount of community support we have received for this project is truly incredible,” said Mayor David Bailey. “With less than $15,000 left to raise, we couldn’t be prouder and more grateful for the generosity shown by local businesses and residents. This truly reflects why Brant is such a wonderful place to call home.”

The Wilkin Family Community Centre, located at 169 Grand River Street North in Paris, is a $1.6 million project designed to serve as a hub for recreation, cultural events, and family gatherings. Its $400,000 fundraising target aims to reduce the financial impact on taxpayers.

Construction on the facility began earlier this year and is expected to wrap up in 2025. The centre will feature 2,055 square feet of indoor space and will house groups such as the Paris Lawn Bowling Club and the Paris Seniors Club 99. It will also be Brant’s first net-zero building, designed to minimize environmental impact.

“We cannot wait to welcome the community to the Wilkin Family Community Centre,” Bailey added. “This space will serve generations as a place to connect, celebrate, and grow.”

The campaign, which launched in March 2024, has attracted widespread contributions. Donors
