Brantford police arrested two men and seized two firearms during a search of a Sheridan Street residence on December 18, 2024.
The investigation began after officers received a report of an assault involving a firearm on December 15. The Brantford Police Service Drug and Firearm Enforcement Unit, along with the Major Crime Unit, launched a probe into the incident.
With assistance from the Emergency Response Team and Ident Unit, police executed a search warrant at the residence at approximately 3:34 p.m. on December 18. Two firearms were located and seized during the operation, leading to the arrest of two Brantford men, aged 40 and 41, both of whom were in violation of firearms prohibitions.
The 40-year-old man faces charges that include assault, assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession contrary to a prohibition order.
