The County of Brant has officially released its new Strategic Plan, a forward-looking document designed to shape decision-making and community development over the next four years. Approved at the December 17, 2024, Council meeting, the plan outlines the County’s commitment to fostering a “charming, prosperous, and inclusive community – a place to live, work, and play.”
“This plan represents the collective vision of our community,” said County of Brant Mayor David Bailey. “It ensures that as we grow and develop, we remain committed to sustainability, inclusion, and preserving the unique charm of the County of Brant.”
The Strategic Plan focuses on five key priorities to address the County’s needs:
- Economic and Financial Resilience, aimed at ensuring long-term sustainability through careful financial planning and a thriving local economy.
- Focused Growth and Infrastructure, designed to manage development effectively while supporting the County’s new Official Plan with appropriate infrastructure.
- Healthy, Safe, and Engaged Communities, promoting transparency in decision-making and expanding opportunities for recreation, social connection, and public safety.
- Stable and Responsive Governance, with an emphasis on delivering reliable, affordable services and improving resources and communication.
- Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action, focusing on climate change mitigation, renewable energy initiatives, and environmental stewardship.
The plan will serve as a roadmap for Council and staff, detailing specific objectives and initiatives such as advancing infrastructure projects, implementing climate action strategies, and enhancing community engagement.
In preparing the plan, County staff prioritized public input through a comprehensive consultation process in 2023. Residents were invited to share their visions and priorities for Brant’s future through a variety of channels, including open houses, virtual meetings, and online tools via the Engage Brant website. These efforts resulted in 848 engagements across in-person and digital platforms, providing valuable insight into the community’s aspirations.
“Thank you to everyone who engaged with us and shared their vision for Brant,” said Mayor Bailey. “Community engagement is incredibly important to Council and staff, and we greatly value residents’ thoughts and opinions on the future of the County.”
The Strategic Plan is now available on the County’s website, with printed copies set to be distributed at Customer Service Offices in the new year. As Brant looks to the future, this plan aims to ensure that growth is guided by the values of sustainability, inclusion, and community connection that define the County.
