A 28-year-old Brantford woman is facing multiple criminal charges after allegedly fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle before crashing into a hydro pole and attempting to escape on foot.
According to the Brantford Police Service, the incident occurred on March 1, 2026, at approximately 12:30 p.m., when a patrol officer conducted a traffic stop after recognizing the driver as someone believed to be wanted on outstanding warrants.
Police say the female driver initially stopped but then fled the scene in the vehicle. Officers did not pursue the vehicle due to public safety concerns.
Shortly afterward, the vehicle was involved in a collision with a hydro pole. The driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by officers a short distance away without further incident.
During the investigation, officers determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen. Police also discovered that 3D-printed licence plates had been attached to the vehicle.
At the time of the arrest, the woman was also found to be wanted on four outstanding warrants, and police confirmed she was driving while under suspension.
As a result of the investigation, the accused has been charged with the following criminal offences:
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Flight from Peace Officer
- Dangerous Operation
- Possession of Stolen Property
Police say the accused also faces 10 additional charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
