Brant County OPP charge 39-year-old in historical intimate partner violence investigation

Police say multiple alleged incidents were reported at a residence in Brant County

A 39-year-old Brant County resident is facing several criminal charges following a police investigation into historical incidents of intimate partner violence, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Brant County OPP officers began the investigation on February 26, 2026, at approximately 6:53 p.m., after receiving a report concerning multiple past incidents at a residence in the county.

Following the investigation, police arrested and charged the individual under the Criminal Code with assault with a weapon, three counts of spousal assault, forcible confinement, and mischief under $5,000.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date.

Police have not released the name of the accused.

The OPP noted that victims of intimate partner violence are not alone and that support services are available.
