A 46-year-old driver from Ohsweken is facing multiple charges after Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver earlier this week.
On February 12, 2026, at approximately 7 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Colborne Street East and Brant County Road 18 following concerns about a driver who may have been impaired.
As a result of the investigation, police have charged the individual with several Criminal Code offences, including:
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with a Demand
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Failure to Comply with a Probation Order (three counts)
- Failure to Comply with a Release Order (three counts)
- Operation While Prohibited
- Taking a Motor Vehicle Without Consent
The accused was held for bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date.
The OPP continues to emphasize road safety through proactive enforcement and public education initiatives.
Police remind the public that impaired driving, whether involving alcohol or drugs, remains a leading cause of serious collisions and fatalities across Ontario.
Anyone who suspects impaired driving is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately.
Police say prompt action from the public can help prevent serious injuries and save lives.
