Brantford man charged with second-degree murder following motel disturbance

A 42-year-old Brantford man has been charged with second-degree murder following a disturbance at a motel on Colborne Street.

According to the Brantford Police Service, officers were called to a motel near the intersection of Colborne Street and Locks Road at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, after reports of a disturbance involving two men.

Police say that upon arrival, officers located a deceased male who appeared to have been assaulted.

A suspect was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree murder. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Investigators believe the two individuals were known to each other and have described the incident as isolated.
