The City of Brantford and Wilfrid Laurier University’s Brantford campus have announced the winter 2026 lineup for the International Film Series, a program that combines moderated discussions with free screenings of international films.
The series runs from January to April and aims to foster public dialogue around culturally diverse cinema.
“The undertaking of the film series is to engage the community of Brantford and Wilfrid Laurier University in the spirit of public education and global engagement by providing a platform for meaningful reflections and dialogue,” said Dr. Raymond Izarali, acting director of the Laurier Hub for Community Solutions.
Screenings are held at the Steven and Helen Kun Theatre, located in the Research and Academic Centre at 150 Dalhousie Street.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with films beginning at 7 p.m. Registration is not required, and light refreshments are provided.

The season opened Jan. 14 with Zone of Interest, a German-Polish film selected in connection with Holocaust Remembrance Day.
More than 25 people attended the screening.
“Many of the films we select for this series reflect Days of Importance,” said Pamela Pacheco, manager of social development and policy with the City of Brantford.
She said this winter’s selections also align with International Mother Language Day and Women’s History Month.
Since the series launched in 2023, more than 700 people have attended screenings.
Organizers say the initiative supports the objectives of the Brantford Immigration Partnership and the OneBrantford: Inclusive City Strategy by offering opportunities for residents to engage with diverse cultural perspectives.
