All schools, administrative buildings and childcare centres under the Grand Erie District School Board (GEDSB) and the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB) are closed today, Tuesday, Jan. 27, due to hazardous weather conditions.
GEDSB said significantly reduced visibility across the region prompted the decision to close all facilities in every zone. The board added that secondary students with exams scheduled for today will receive further instructions from their school principals.
BHNCDSB also ordered a system-wide closure, citing an unexpected inclement weather front. All transportation has been cancelled, and schools are closed to both students and staff in all zones. In addition, all school rentals, childcare programs, after-school activities and night school classes have been cancelled.
The Catholic board confirmed that secondary school exams have been rescheduled. Monday’s final exam will now take place on Wednesday, with all remaining exams moved two days later than originally planned.
Both boards apologized for the late notice and advised families to monitor official communications for further updates.
