Brant County OPP investigating alleged contractor fraud in Burford

The Brant County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating an alleged fraud involving a door-to-door contractor in Burford.

Police said the investigation began on January 13, 2026, after a resident reported being approached by a company identifying itself as 24 Hour Roofing and Masonry, which had been offering repair and renovation services in Brant County.

According to OPP, the incident occurred on January 9 at approximately 11:00 a.m., when the resident paid $5,000 to a male representative of the company for chimney repairs.

Police said the work was started but not completed.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 35 years old, about six feet tall and weighing roughly 230 pounds.

He was reported to be driving a black pickup truck.

Brant County OPP is reminding residents to use caution when dealing with door-to-door salespersons and to verify a company’s credentials before making any payments.

Police are asking anyone in Brant County who may have video surveillance, a licence plate number, or other information related to the individual or vehicle to contact Brant County OPP and reference incident number E260055188.
