Brantford police have identified a suspect in a stabbing outside a downtown bar that sent a woman to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries earlier this month.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. on January 10, when officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to a bar near the intersection of Market Street and Chatham Street following a report of an injured female who had sustained a stab wound.
Police said the investigation determined that a verbal dispute took place between the victim and a female suspect inside the bar, with the assault occurring after both individuals were outside. The suspect fled the area before officers arrived.
On January 12, police released the name and photograph of the individual they say is wanted in connection with the incident.
Investigators have identified Takia Greene, 22, of Ohsweken, as the suspect. A warrant has been issued for Greene’s arrest on a charge of aggravated assault.
Police are advising the public not to approach the suspect. Anyone who sees Greene is asked to contact police.
The victim was located by officers at the scene and transported to hospital for treatment. Police have confirmed the injuries were non-life-threatening.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to contact the Brantford Police Service at 519-756-7050 and reference incident number 26-01158.
