The Brantford Bulldogs defeated the London Knights 4–1 on Friday night at Canada Life Place in Ontario Hockey League regular-season action.
After a scoreless opening period, Brantford broke the game open in the second period with four goals in a span of 10 minutes and 44 seconds.
Marek Vanacker opened the scoring at 3:14, assisted by Cooper Dennis and Edison Engle.
Parker Holmes doubled the lead at 11:51, with Adam Jiricek recording the assist.
Jiricek added a goal of his own at 12:32, assisted by Vanacker and Owen Protz, before Caleb Malhotra made it 4–0 at 13:58 off a feed from Charlie Paquette.
Brantford carried the four-goal advantage into the second intermission.
London’s lone goal came on the power play at 6:13 of the third period, when Jesse Nurmi scored with assists from Ryan Brown and Jaxon Cover.
That would be the only goal allowed by Brantford goaltender Ryerson Leenders.
Leenders played the full 60 minutes and finished with 28 saves on 29 shots to earn the win.
London starter Aleksei Medvedev stopped 24 of 28 shots before being relieved late in the third period.
Special teams play saw Brantford go 0-for-2 on the power play, while London converted once on three opportunities.
Brantford was assessed four minor penalties for eight minutes, and London was penalized three times for six minutes.
Jiricek and Vanacker were named the first and second stars of the game for Brantford, while Nurmi earned third-star honours for London.
Brantford is scheduled to return to action on Sunday, January 11, when the Bulldogs visit the Windsor Spitfires for a 4:05 p.m. start.
