Construction is continuing in Brantford as part of Phase 1 of the Downtown Revitalization Project, with underground infrastructure work progressing along Icomm Drive between Brant Avenue and Clarence Street South.
Traffic controls remain in place in the area.
One lane remains open in each direction between Hill Street and Clarence Street South.
Motorists are advised to follow posted signage and allow additional travel time.
Beginning Monday, January 12, the main entrance and exit to the Market Centre Parkade, at the intersection of Market Street South and Icomm Drive, will be closed to accommodate construction.
The closure is scheduled to remain in effect until March 31, 2026.
During this period, alternative entrances to the parkade will remain available via Hill Street, Wharfe Street and the Brantford Farmers’ Market.
The only exit from the parkade will be at the west end, onto Hill Street.
The Brantford Farmers’ Market will remain open during construction.
The main, westmost driveway on Icomm Drive may be temporarily closed at times to support construction activities, with alternate access maintained via the eastmost driveway on Icomm Drive and Clarence Street South.
Crews are scheduled to begin asphalt removal on Icomm Drive up to the Market Street South intersection this week.
Installation of new underground infrastructure is expected to begin next week, with up to 310 metres of pipe to be installed along Icomm Drive as part of the project.
