A new family-focused event aimed at children aged four to 10 will make its debut in Brantford this month, as EduColor Press hosts its first-ever Kids Adventure Expo at the Woodman Park Community Centre.
The one-day event will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., bringing together active play, creative workshops, live entertainment and community vendors under one roof.
Organized by EduColor Press, a Brantford-based children’s media and publishing company, the Expo is designed to promote learning through play in an accessible, community-based setting.
The company produces children’s books, videos and educational courses and has published more than 60 titles and built a YouTube audience of over 40,000 subscribers.
Elly Kim, Outreach and Events Coordinator at EduColor Press, said the idea for the Expo emerged from identifying a gap in Brantford’s family-oriented event landscape.
“Brantford is a growing city with many young families and a vibrant ecosystem of local businesses and organizations that serve children,” Kim said.
“What we noticed was a gap in large-scale, children- and family-focused expo-style events that bring everything together in one place.”
Since initial plans were announced, organizers say the event has expanded significantly, now featuring full-day live performances, original hands-on workshops, community vendors and an interactive Adventure Passport experience.
Kim said the Expo is structured to blend physical activity with creative and educational programming. Children attending will receive an “Adventure Passport,” encouraging them to move through different activity stations and workshops throughout the day.
“Children can enjoy hands-on workshops in areas like art, STEM and food exploration, while also taking part in active play, including inflatables and dance sessions,” she said.
“As children complete activities, they receive passport stamps and stickers and can earn prizes, encouraging exploration, movement and curiosity.”
Planned highlights include a 29-foot inflatable bouncy castle, carnival-style games, interactive activity stations and a selection of local retail and food vendors focused on children and families.
Live entertainment will run throughout the day and includes storytelling, dance, martial arts demonstrations and interactive performances. The performer lineup features Rumple & Friends, Sing-It Brantford, Stomptastic, Studio 5678, Triple Arts Academy, and Brantford Theatre Company & Expressive Arts Studio.
A central feature of the Expo is its original workshop programming, developed specifically for the event. Three themed workshops will be offered:
• Pilot-in-Training Lab, where children build and decorate their own planes, with an optional motor-powered glider
• Messy Masterpiece Studio, a guided creative art experience encouraging hands-on exploration
• Creative Kitchen, where children decorate cookies in a playful setting while practicing rhyming words
Workshops can be purchased individually or through Adventure Pass bundles, allowing families to select different combinations of activities.
Admission to the Kids Adventure Expo is free. Some workshops and activities require a participation fee, and organizers say they are currently seeking sponsors in order to expand the number of free offerings available to children.
Organizers report strong interest from local families in the lead-up to the event.
“We’ve seen an incredibly positive response from the community,” Kim said.
“It’s encouraging to see how excited families are about having a space that brings learning, play and local talent together.”
The event is supported by several community partners and sponsors, including Gamerz Galaxy, Crock A Doodle, Rumple & Friends, Joan Minnery, Ashlee’s Events and Studio 5678. Additional partners are expected to be announced.
Kim said collaboration with local businesses, performers and social enterprises remains a priority.
“We don’t see one another as competitors—we see ourselves as part of a shared ecosystem dedicated to supporting children and families,” she said.
“Our goal is for everyone involved—vendors, performers, volunteers and families—to feel inspired, connected and genuinely excited to be part of the day.”
Beyond entertainment, organizers hope the Expo will encourage children to explore new interests and develop a positive relationship with learning.
“It’s about sparking lifelong curiosity and a love of learning,” Kim said.
“It’s designed to be memorable not just because it’s fun, but because it shows children that learning can be exciting and joyful.”
If successful, EduColor Press plans to make the Kids Adventure Expo an annual event in Brantford and explore opportunities to expand to other municipalities.
“Because EduColor Press is proudly based in Brantford, we fully intend for this to become a yearly community tradition,” Kim said.
