Brantford police arrested a woman early Saturday following an impaired driving investigation at a local business.

In a media release, the Brantford Police Service said officers responded on January 3, 2026, to a report of a vehicle parked in an accessible parking space without authorization.

Upon arrival, officers found a female occupant asleep in the driver’s seat.

Police said further investigation led to the driver’s arrest for impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drugs.

During the investigation, officers seized an unauthorized firearm and items police say were consistent with drug trafficking.

Officers also determined the woman was on release in connection with previous criminal charges and was in breach of her release conditions.

As a result of the impaired driving investigation, the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Police said the driver was not licensed to operate a motor vehicle and faces additional charges under the Highway Traffic Act, the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, the Cannabis Control Act, and the Liquor Licence and Control Act.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody, pending a future court appearance.
