A five-vehicle collision at the intersection of King George Road and Powerline Road on Thursday morning resulted in multiple Highway Traffic Act charges against a transport-truck driver and a trucking company, according to the Brantford Police Service.
Police were called to the scene at about 10:40 a.m., where four passenger vehicles and a commercial motor vehicle with a loaded trailer had collided.
All vehicles sustained significant damage. Two drivers suffered minor injuries, and one was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The Traffic Unit, supported by Ministry of Transportation enforcement officers, conducted the investigation.
As a result, a 28-year-old male truck driver and a trucking company were charged with several offences under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, including careless driving, failing to stop at a red light, improper tires on a drawn commercial vehicle, failing to ensure performance standards were met, and operating a commercial motor vehicle with a major defect.
Police thanked motorists for their patience as the intersection was closed during the investigation and subsequent clearance of the scene.
