The Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) has reached a key step toward building a new regional hospital, issuing a formal Call for Land and inviting property owners to submit potential sites for evaluation.

The announcement was made by the independent Task Force overseeing site selection for the project, which will determine where the new hospital serving Brantford, Brant County, Six Nations of the Grand River, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and surrounding communities will be built.

Landowners interested in having their property considered can review requirements and submit through the BCHS Biddingo portal under Site Identification – Reimagine BCHS. Stage 1 proposals must be filed no later than February 10, 2026 at 15:00 EST.

The process is structured in two phases. The first stage will confirm whether proposals meet mandatory criteria; eligible sites will then move to Stage 2, where a shortlist will be assessed using weighted evaluation measures such as size, access, servicing, and long-term development potential.

“We’re asking landowners across Brantford-Brant who have sites that meet the criteria we’re looking for to put forward their sites for consideration,” said Don Shilton, Chair of the Site Identification Task Force.

“The community has helped us define what matters most, and now we’re ready to find the site that will serve our region for generations to come. I’m confident we’ll find a great location for the new hospital.”

The Call for Land follows a month-long consultation held in September, where residents, health-care workers, Indigenous partners, municipalities, and local organizations provided feedback on proposed evaluation criteria.

Input from that process informed the final scoring framework that will be applied to all shortlisted submissions.

A recommendation on the preferred site is expected to go before the BCHS Board of Directors in spring 2026.

BCHS says the new hospital is critical infrastructure for one of the fastest-expanding communities in southwestern Ontario, replacing aging facilities and supporting long-term population growth.

The project is part of the broader Reimagine BCHS plan, which aims to deliver modern health services and improved patient flow across the system.
