A 22-year-old Brantford man is facing stunt driving and speeding charges after Ontario Provincial Police say he was stopped travelling nearly twice the posted speed limit on Highway 24 early Sunday morning.

According to OPP, officers were conducting traffic enforcement near Ellis Avenue at 12:31 a.m. when they recorded a southbound vehicle moving at 154 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

The driver was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle, Perform Stunt, Excessive Speed and Speeding, 154 km/h in an 80 km/h Zone.

Police say the man’s licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle has been impounded for 14 days, as required under provincial stunt driving penalties.

Stunt driving remains one of the most serious traffic offences in Ontario, carrying immediate roadside sanctions and significant risk to other drivers.
