The City of Brantford hosted a community recognition event at City Hall today, highlighting the long-term impact of Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) revenues reinvested into local not-for-profits since 1999.
The event underscored how gaming funds have strengthened programs, services, and organizations across Brantford for more than two decades.
As of November, the City has received nearly $109 million in total gaming revenue payments from OLG as a host community, including $4,818,867 for Fiscal Year 2024–2025.
Brantford reinvests these funds into the community through annual grants administered by the Brant Community Foundation, which distributes funding to local not-for-profit and charitable organizations.
Mayor Kevin Davis said the program continues to generate tangible benefits for residents and service groups.
“Since this program’s inception, the City has proudly re-invested these funds through annual contributions to support the efforts of various not-for-profit organizations in our community,” Davis stated.
“We are deeply grateful for the ongoing partnership with OLG and for their ongoing commitment as a corporate citizen and generous contributor to Brantford’s growth and well-being.”
OLG Senior Municipal Relations Manager Kathleen Devine noted that casino revenue supports communities across Ontario.
“For the last 50 years, since the organization’s start in 1975, 100 per cent of OLG profits are reinvested in Ontario to support provincial priorities,” Devine said.
“From critical infrastructure projects to community festivals and community grant programs, OLG’s profits are hard at work in Brantford and across our province to build stronger communities.”
She also acknowledged employees at Elements Casino Brantford, whose work contributes directly to local reinvestment.
“When you play at an Ontario casino, you play for Ontario,” she added.
Anne Marie Peirce, Executive Director of the Brant Community Foundation, emphasized the longevity of the granting program and its impact.
“Since 2001, the program has helped to shape the vitality and sense of belonging that is enjoyed in our community,” Peirce said.
“The Brant Community Foundation plays a key role in carefully reviewing applications and recommending funding, ensuring that grants make the greatest possible impact across the community.”
To date, the Foundation has administered more than 1,500 grants.
Many local service providers continue operating thanks in part to City contributions and the Casino Legacy Fund.
