The Brantford Food Bank is continuing a long-standing community tradition as volunteers once again walk the Santa Claus Parade route collecting non-perishable food donations for local families.

The organization has participated in the parade for decades, with volunteers gathering contributions along the route to help ensure residents have access to food throughout the holiday season.

Demand remains high: in October, the food bank supported 1,295 households and 3,500 individuals, including 35 per cent children and 19 per cent clients who are employed.

“We’re always grateful to be part of this festive event,” said Executive Director Heather Vanner.

“The Santa Claus Parade brings people together and reminds us of the power of community. Every can, box, and food item we’ve received over the years has gone to a neighbour in need.”

Frontier Building Group is again partnering with the food bank this year, providing vehicles and volunteers to support the collection effort.

Residents attending the parade are encouraged to bring non-perishable items such as peanut butter, canned meats and beans, pasta, oatmeal or cereal.

The food bank says every donation helps support local families during the holidays.

Brantford’s annual Santa Claus Parade, which this year marks its 49th edition, will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 2 p.m.

The parade, organized by Freedom House and presented by GrandBridge Energy, features the theme “Sunshine.”
