Police are searching for a suspect who fled the scene of a single-vehicle collision early Sunday involving a truck confirmed to be stolen.

Brantford Police Service responded around 4:39 a.m. on November 23 after a silver GMC Sierra travelling at high speed southbound on Ninth Avenue struck a tree on Erie Avenue.

Investigators determined the pickup had been reported stolen from Langton, and stolen licence plates from Brantford had been attached to it.

A 37-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.

The driver fled before officers arrived and remains at large. Police describe him as a white male with short brown hair, last seen wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and jeans.
