The Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) has released its first-ever Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI-B) Roadmap, outlining how the organization plans to strengthen equity in care and workplace culture between 2025 and 2030.
The document marks a milestone for BCHS, which has spent the past two years developing its DEI-B strategy through engagement with staff, leadership, and community partners.
“This work is not a one-time initiative. It’s an ongoing commitment to transforming how we operate, how we provide care, and how we lead,” said Erin Sleeth, Vice President of People, Culture, and Corporate Infrastructure.
Sleeth noted that the roadmap reflects feedback gathered through internal engagement sessions, Employee Resource Groups, surveys, focus groups, and leadership consultations.
The roadmap aligns with the organization’s newly released 2025–2030 Strategic Plan and the Ontario Health Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Anti-Racism Framework.
It sets out four pillars — People, Patients, Partners, and Progress — and identifies three areas of focus: strengthening internal systems, expanding external partnerships and visibility, and ensuring resources and innovation support long-term equity goals.
BCHS President and CEO Bonnie Camm said the roadmap connects the organization’s vision to measurable action.
“It ensures that DEI-B is not just part of our culture, but a central pillar of how we lead and provide care,” Camm said.
BCHS also acknowledged the contribution of staff and community partners to the development of the plan, including the leadership of Dr. Ruby Latif, Director of Inclusivity, Diversity, and Community Outreach.
The organization says the roadmap will guide its efforts to build an environment where patients, families, staff, and visitors feel valued and included across its two sites — Brantford General Hospital and The Willett in Paris.
