Staff and volunteers from the Brantford Food Bank, local Tim Hortons representatives, and first responders gathered at the Tim Hortons on Colborne Street East on Monday morning to launch the 2025 Holiday Smile Cookie campaign. The kickoff event brought together community partners to promote the week-long fundraiser supporting the Brantford Food Bank and Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

The Tim Hortons Holiday Smile Cookie campaign is back, and once again Brantford residents can help fight hunger simply by buying a cookie.

From November 17 to 23, all Tim Hortons locations in Brantford will sell Holiday Smile Cookies, with proceeds supporting both the Brantford Food Bank and Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

Last year’s campaign raised more than $70,000, split between the two organizations. The Food Bank hopes to surpass that total this season.

The campaign officially kicked off Monday morning at the Tim Hortons on 1290 Colborne Street East, where Brantford Police, Fire, and Paramedics took part in a light-hearted cookie-decorating race to launch the week of fundraising.

“A crucial campaign for families who rely on us”

Speaking to BrantBlog, Heather Vanner, Brantford Food Bank Executive Director of Community Resource Service, said the need in the community remains high.

“Last year we raised $70,000 that was split between both organizations. We would love to see that higher,” she said.

“The Food Bank is always in need of food to support the individuals who come through our doors. Monetary donations help us purchase food, keep our operations running, and make sure the people and children using our services are well fed.”

Vanner thanked Tim Hortons franchisees and local residents for standing behind the campaign year after year. “This time of year is so important to families. We really appreciate the community’s support.”

She added that members of the public can help by buying cookies in person or placing bulk orders for workplaces, schools, and family gatherings.

Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis stands with volunteers from the Brantford Food Bank during the launch of the 2025 Holiday Smile Cookie campaign at the Tim Hortons on Colborne Street East on Monday. The annual fundraiser supports local families facing food insecurity.

Mayor: Food Bank “more important than ever”

Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis also attended the kickoff, praising both Tim Hortons and the Food Bank for their long-standing commitment to the community.

“The Food Bank provides, year-in and year-out, a really critical service — more important than ever,” Davis said.

“Social assistance rates simply aren’t keeping up with inflation, and many families are facing more difficult economic circumstances. The Food Bank fills that essential gap so people aren’t going without food.”

Davis also highlighted the volunteers who keep the operation running. “It’s incredible how many dedicated volunteers support this work. Being here today is the least we can do to show appreciation.”

First responders from Brantford Police, Fire and Paramedic Services hold their awards after competing in the Holiday Smile Cookie decorating contest at the Tim Hortons on Colborne Street East on Monday. The friendly competition helped launch this year’s Smile Cookie campaign in support of the Brantford Food Bank and Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

How to take part

Residents can support the campaign in several ways:

  • Buy a Smile Cookie during the campaign week. Each cookie purchased provides the equivalent of two meals for people facing food insecurity in Brantford, Brant County, and Six Nations.
  • Join the Cookie Kickoff events at participating Tim Hortons locations.
  • Order in bulk for offices, classrooms, or holiday gatherings.

Holiday Smile Cookies are available at all Tim Hortons locations across Brantford from November 17 to 23.

For more information or to download bulk order forms, visit the Brantford Food Bank or your local Tim Hortons.
