The City of Brantford has been nationally recognized for the quality and reliability of its homelessness data, earning Foundations Quality By-Name Data 4.0 certification from the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH) through the Built for Zero Canada initiative.
Brantford-Brant is now one of only nine communities in the country to reach this milestone.
The designation confirms that the community’s homelessness data meets rigorous national standards and can be used to track progress in real time.
To secure the certification, the City achieved a 13-out-of-13 score on the By-Name Data Scorecard 4.0, completed system mapping and outreach coordination tools, and submitted three consecutive months of verified data.
July 2025 has been established as the community’s baseline month, providing a fixed point from which to measure future reductions in homelessness.
The recognition comes as Brantford reports broader progress across its housing portfolio.
The City currently has 273 municipally developed affordable housing units either completed or underway, marking 54 percent of its 2030 target.
Another 42 non-profit units are under construction with municipal support, and private developers have delivered 38 affordable units through Municipal Housing Facilities Agreements.
Brantford has also received an A+ rating for housing starts from the Residential Construction Council of Ontario (RESCON) and the University of Ottawa, placing it among a small group of municipalities cited for strong performance.
Mayor Kevin Davis said the CAEH designation reflects the City’s commitment to accurate reporting and coordinated housing efforts.
“This acknowledgement demonstrates City staff’s high standards of professionalism and reporting accuracy. From affordable housing to new neighbourhoods, and now a national recognition of our homelessness data system, every partner and every project strengthens our community and brings us closer to achieving our housing goals,” he said.
The achievement will be highlighted during the City’s National Housing Day event on November 20, where staff will outline community partnerships and progress toward meeting 2030 housing targets.
