Residents will have an opportunity to learn more about a proposed outdoor ice rink facility in Conklin Park during a public open house scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025.
The session, hosted by Free Sport For Growth in partnership with the City of Brantford, will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at King George School, located at 265 Rawdon Street.
Attendees will be able to review design plans, speak with project representatives, and ask questions about the future facility.
“We’re excited to work with Free Sport For Growth to bring more outdoor recreational opportunities to residents,” said Kimberley Wyskiel, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Brantford.
“The open house is an opportunity for residents to review the impressive design concepts, learn more about future programming and ask questions.”
Free Sport For Growth is leading the project and fundraising efforts for the new covered rink, planned for Conklin Park at 348 Murray Street.
According to the organization, the facility is intended to operate year-round and will include change areas, washrooms, refrigeration equipment, an ice resurfacer, mechanical spaces, storage areas, and a new gymnasium.
Funding for the project will come through a campaign coordinated by Free Sport For Growth in collaboration with Charles Jones Industrial Ltd.
The proposed design incorporates long-lasting, low-maintenance materials to help reduce future operating costs.
Features include weather-resistant finishes, high-performance structural elements, and mechanical systems designed to operate reliably in harsh conditions.
