The Brant County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has introduced body-worn cameras for its front-line officers — a move aimed at strengthening public trust, accountability, and officer safety across the community.

The rollout is part of a province-wide OPP initiative to increase transparency in day-to-day policing and provide an accurate record of interactions between officers and the public.

According to the OPP, the cameras will capture both audio and video during police interactions, offering an additional layer of evidence collection and enhancing the accuracy of investigations.

“This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability,” the OPP said in a statement.

“The presence of body-worn cameras strengthens public confidence and reinforces the professionalism of Brant County police officers.”

Residents are reminded that body-worn cameras may be active and recording during any interaction with officers.

The OPP says the technology will help improve officer training, enhance community relations, and contribute to safer policing outcomes across Brant County.
