The Brantford Police Service carried out a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program across multiple locations in the city on Sunday afternoon and evening, checking more than 500 vehicles as part of their ongoing efforts to keep local roads safe.
Police confirmed that all drivers stopped during the operation were sober, marking a positive outcome for the community.
“Our goal is simple: keep our roads safe,” the service said in a statement.
“We thank everyone who made the responsible choice to drive sober.”
The RIDE program is a regular initiative conducted throughout the year by Brantford Police to detect and deter impaired driving.
Officers often increase patrols and checkpoints during weekends, holidays, and community events when the risk of impaired driving tends to rise.
Brantford Police continue to remind motorists that even one drink or the use of drugs before driving can have serious consequences — from license suspension to criminal charges and life-altering collisions.
Community members are encouraged to plan ahead for a safe ride home by arranging a designated driver, using public transit, or calling a taxi or rideshare service.
