The City of Brantford has expanded its traffic cabinet wrap program to include a new series of original artworks created by regional artists.

The initiative continues the city’s effort to deter graffiti while adding vibrancy and artistic character to public spaces.

Launched several years ago, the program began with wraps featuring historic photographs from Brantford’s archives.

The latest phase introduces contemporary art in a range of mediums, including digital illustration and gouache painting, printed on durable, graffiti-resistant vinyl expected to last up to ten years.

“Programs such as this one not only provide a public platform for artists but also contribute to a dynamic and accessible arts scene,” said Adrienne Briggs, Arts and Culture Coordinator with the City of Brantford.

“In this way, we can make art an integral part of daily life for both residents and visitors.”

City officials say the wraps transform ordinary infrastructure into public art installations that both beautify the streetscape and foster civic pride.

Each piece aims to reflect Brantford’s local culture, heritage, and natural beauty.

The newly wrapped traffic cabinets can be viewed online at Brantford.ca/TrafficCabinets or in person at the following intersections:

  • West Street and Edmondson Street
  • King George Road and Kent Road
  • Brant Avenue and Church Street
  • Colborne Street East and Forest Road
  • Shellard Lane and Flanders Drive

Additional locations are planned for installation in 2026, when the City expects to issue the next Artist Call for submissions.

Artists interested in future opportunities can join the City of Brantford’s Artist Database through the municipal website.
