Members of the Brantford Police Service (BPS) Core Engagement and Response Team have seized more than $25,000 worth of illegal psilocybin and arrested a 39-year-old woman from Brantford following the execution of a search warrant at an illegal retail storefront.
Police say the investigation focused on a psilocybin shop that had reopened on Murray Street after previously being shut down three times.
On Friday, officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant, seizing approximately 2,319 grams of suspected psilocybin.
As a result, a 39-year-old woman from Brantford has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking – Schedule III substance (psilocybin) under Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The BPS reminds residents that the sale and purchase of psilocybin—commonly known as magic mushrooms—remains illegal in Canada.
Psilocybin is classified as a controlled substance, and possession, production, or trafficking can lead to criminal charges.
