Brantford Police say they have once again shut down an illegal psilocybin storefront in the city, seizing more than $44,000 worth of drugs and charging a Brantford man with trafficking.

On September 16, 2025, members of the Brantford Police Service (BPS) Drug and Firearm Enforcement Unit and the Core Engagement and Response Team began investigating an illegal psilocybin retail operation that had reopened on Murray Street.

Police noted the business had already been shut down twice before but had resumed operations in defiance of the law.

On September 26, 2025, officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act section 11 search warrant at the location. Inside, they seized approximately 3,421.5 grams of suspected psilocybin with an estimated street value of $43,495.

The total seizure, including packaging and related evidence, is valued at more than $44,000.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Brantford man has been charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule III (Psilocybin), contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Brantford Police emphasized that psilocybin, commonly known as “magic mushrooms,” remains a controlled substance in Canada and that unauthorized retail operations are illegal.

They added that their enforcement teams will continue to target businesses attempting to profit from unregulated and unlawful sales in the community.
