Ontario Provincial Police in Brant County have laid charges in three unrelated incidents over the weekend and into Monday morning, ranging from assault to impaired and stunt driving.
Disturbance in Paris
Police were called to a residence in Paris shortly before midnight on Sept. 13 after reports of a disturbance. Officers say they encountered a 53-year-old man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Brantford Police.
During the arrest, the man allegedly resisted and became assaultive.
Jason Kings, 53, of Brant County, has been charged with assault.
He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in Brantford in November.
Impaired Driving Collision
On Sept. 14 at about 11:53 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle collision on Cockshutt Road. The driver was not injured but was arrested at the scene.
Alexander Follington, 33, of Paris, faces two counts: operating while impaired by alcohol and drugs, and operating with a blood-alcohol concentration over 80.
He was released and is due in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on Oct. 2.
Stunt Driving Charge
The next morning, on Sept. 15 at 6:48 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on Branchton Road after it was recorded travelling 143 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
A 32-year-old Cambridge man has been charged with stunt driving and speeding. His licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle impounded for 14 days, in accordance with provincial legislation.
Police reiterated their focus on road and community safety, urging residents to report suspected impaired or aggressive driving.
