Construction on the first phase of Brantford’s Downtown Revitalization Project is scheduled to begin the week of September 15, 2025. Work is expected to continue until the end of August 2026, weather permitting.

The project will upgrade sidewalks, roadways and underground services across several core streets:

  • Brant Avenue between Colborne and Dalhousie
  • Colborne Street between Brant and King
  • Dalhousie Street between Brant and Bridge
  • Icomm Drive between Colborne and Clarence South
  • Hill Street between Icomm and Water

Traffic will be reduced to a single southbound or eastbound lane on Brant Avenue and Icomm Drive during construction. Short-term closures are also possible. Detour routes have been set up to keep access open for businesses and downtown destinations.

A public open house will take place Monday, September 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. at City Hall’s Council Chambers. City staff will be on hand to answer questions about timelines and impacts.

Officials say storefront entryways and sidewalks will stay open where possible. Businesses directly affected have already been notified.
