Tutela Heights Road to be permanently closed at Brantford–Brant boundary

A section of Tutela Heights Road at the Brantford–County of Brant boundary will be permanently closed beginning Sept. 16, 2025, following concerns over slope stability first identified several years ago.

The County of Brant completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) in 2017 that examined the stability of the roadway.

The study recommended a full closure of the section extending from the city boundary to roughly 475 metres east.

In line with that recommendation, the City of Brantford will impose temporary closure measures on its portion of the road until permanent work is finalized later this fall.

Officials say emergency services will continue to have access during and after the closure.

Municipal staff acknowledge the change may cause inconvenience for residents but say the closure is necessary for public safety.

More information on the project is available at brantford.ca/TutelaHeightsSlope.
