The Grand River Women’s Probus Club marked its 25th anniversary with a gathering of more than 110 members at the Best Western Brantford, reflecting on a quarter-century of fellowship, community service and friendship.

The event featured remarks from club president Pam Bamsey, Probus Canada district director Donna Potoczek, national president Martin Buscher and Bernie Neziol of the Rotary Sunrise Club, which sponsored the Brantford group’s founding in 1999.

Buscher presented a 25th anniversary certificate to Bamsey on behalf of Probus Canada.

A highlight of the celebration was the recognition of longtime member Linn Cumin, who received a Lifetime Membership Certificate for her years of leadership and service.

Founding members in attendance were honoured with a bagpipe procession, while others who could not attend were remembered.

The club also paid tribute to its past presidents, both living and deceased, who helped shape the organization over the years.

Part of a global network of more than 4,000 Probus clubs — 250 of them in Canada — the Grand River Women’s Probus Club brings together retired and semi-retired women from Brantford and Brant County.

Monthly meetings, held on the fourth Monday at the Best Western, provide opportunities for learning, social connection and community involvement.
