On Sunday, August 3, 2025, officers were called to Bishopsgate Road after a traffic complaint about a possible impaired driver.
A 41-year-old Burford resident was arrested and charged with impaired operation, dangerous operation, and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on August 21, 2025.
A day earlier, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, police responded to a single-vehicle collision on Maple Avenue South.
The investigation led to the arrest of a 57-year-old Brant County resident, who faces the same three charges. This individual is also set to appear in court on August 21, 2025.
In a separate traffic stop, officers clocked a Corvette travelling 129 km/h in a 70 km/h zone.
The driver was charged with stunt driving, resulting in an immediate 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment, in accordance with Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act.
Police emphasize that impaired driving continues to be a leading cause of death on Ontario roads, and enforcement efforts remain focused on removing unsafe drivers.
