The City of Brantford is bringing back one of its most beloved summer traditions as HipFest returns to Harmony Square on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
This free outdoor concert celebrates the enduring legacy of The Tragically Hip with a live performance by acclaimed tribute band The Practically Hip.
Presented by Millards Chartered Professional Accountants, the event promises an evening of powerful music, vibrant community engagement, and heartfelt tributes to one of Canada’s most iconic rock bands.
“The Tragically Hip has a unique power to unite people,” said Jennifer Middleton, Special Events Supervisor for the City of Brantford.
“Their music creates a community that transcends time, bringing together people from all walks of life. The City is thankful for the ongoing support of our local sponsors who help provide free events for residents to enjoy.”
In addition to Millards, local sponsors include the Downtown Brantford BIA, Farm Boy, and West Brant Window World, whose continued support ensures events like HipFest remain accessible to the public.
Now entering its third decade as a performing act, The Practically Hip is known for its dynamic, note-perfect tribute to The Tragically Hip.
Frontman Dean Hughes is lauded for his commanding vocal performances and ability to channel the energy and charisma of the late Gord Downie. With a five-piece lineup, the band promises an authentic and high-energy experience that captures the essence of The Hip’s legendary live shows.
Concertgoers will also be able to take home a free souvenir from the on-site photo booth, sponsored by the Downtown BIA, and browse a local marketplace featuring handmade goods and artisan products.
A selection of food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
Free parking is available at the Municipal Parkade at 59 Icomm Drive, and Brantford Transit offers convenient service to the event, with the main terminal located just one block from Harmony Square.
Attendees requiring accessible transit are encouraged to book Brantford Lift services by 9:30 p.m. on Friday, August 15.
