Brant County OPP Lay Multiple Charges in Separate Incidents Involving Break-In, Impaired Driving, Domestic Assault, and Excessive Speeding

Brant County OPP officers have laid a series of charges in connection with four separate incidents over the past week, underscoring ongoing concerns around property crime, impaired and dangerous driving, and domestic violence in the community.

Break-In at Vacant Commercial Property

On July 11, officers responded to a report of a suspicious person observed at a vacant commercial property on Old Onondaga Road West. After locating the individual and conducting an investigation, police arrested and charged the accused with six offences:

• Break and Enter

• Theft Under $5,000

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

• Possession of Break-In Instruments

• Mischief Under $5,000

• Breach of Probation

Domestic Assault Charge Following Disturbance

On July 15, officers were called to a domestic disturbance. Following an investigation, one person was arrested and charged with Assault – Spousal. The accused was released from custody with a future court date.

Impaired Driving Arrest After Collision in Paris

Also on July 11, police responded to a single-vehicle collision in Paris. A 37-year-old resident was arrested after officers determined that the driver was impaired. The individual now faces multiple charges, including:

• Operation While Impaired – Alcohol

• Dangerous Operation

• Refusal to Comply with Demand

• Driving with Open Container of Liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on July 25, 2025. Brant County OPP is reminding drivers that impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of serious injuries and fatalities on Ontario roads.

Stunt Driving Charge for Excessive Speed

In a separate incident, officers stopped a vehicle that was recorded travelling 142 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The driver has been charged with Stunt Driving, which carries significant penalties:

• Immediate 14-day vehicle impoundment

• 30-day driver’s licence suspension

• Mandatory court appearance and possible fine up to $10,000
