The City of Brantford and SC Johnson officially unveiled a series of major upgrades to the T.B. Costain/SC Johnson Community Centre during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, marking a new chapter for one of the city’s most valued community hubs.
The event brought together representatives from SC Johnson, City Council, and members of the public to celebrate the transformation of the facility, which now features a revitalized exterior façade and significant enhancements to the gymnasium.
The renovations aim to create a more inviting, accessible, and functional space for residents of all ages.
Mayor Kevin Davis highlighted the importance of the project during his remarks:
“The T.B. Costain/SC Johnson Community Centre is a cherished space that brings people together, supports healthy activity, and strengthens our sense of neighbourhood. Thanks to SC Johnson’s continued generosity and commitment to Brantford, these improvements will ensure the Centre remains a focal point of community connection for many years to come.”
The upgrades were made possible through the continued partnership and financial support of SC Johnson, a company with longstanding ties to Brantford. Izzi Marquart, General Manager of SC Johnson Canada, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the city.
“I’m incredibly proud that SC Johnson can play a role in bringing people together to learn, connect and grow through the newly improved Centre,” said Marquart. “Supporting the communities in which we do business isn’t just something we do — it’s part of who we are. Brantford is a vibrant, resilient, and generous community and we’re grateful to be here.”
For decades, the T.B. Costain/SC Johnson Community Centre has offered vital recreational programming and served as a welcoming venue for events and gatherings. The latest renovations ensure the facility continues to thrive as an inclusive and accessible gathering space for the growing community.
