Brantford Police Investigating Early Morning Shooting Outside Nightclub

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred outside a nightclub on Colborne Street in Brantford early Wednesday morning.

At approximately 12:10 a.m. on June 4, Brantford Police Service officers responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Colborne and Clarence Streets.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital for treatment.

Police say the incident is believed to be isolated and there is no known threat to public safety. No arrests have been made at this time.

Investigators remained at the scene throughout the day to collect evidence and speak with potential witnesses.

Toronto Man Arrested with Loaded Firearm at Brantford Skate Park

A 25-year-old man from Toronto is facing multiple weapons-related charges after police seized a loaded, restricted firearm at a Brantford skate park on Tuesday night.

Officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to reports of a disturbance at the Icomm Drive skate park at approximately 9:30 p.m. on June 3. Upon arrival, officers located a man who refused to identify himself and was later found to be wanted by a neighbouring police jurisdiction.

During the investigation, officers discovered the man was in possession of a loaded, restricted firearm and was in violation of several judicial prohibition orders.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

The accused was arrested at the scene and has been charged with the following offences:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Failure to comply with a probation order
  • Possession of a firearm or weapon contrary to a prohibition order
  • Failure to comply with a judicial release order
  • Obstructing a peace officer

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.
