Grand Erie Public Health is alerting the public to two confirmed measles exposure locations in the region.
Health officials say individuals may have been exposed to the virus at the following sites and times:
– Stubbe’s Precast, 44 Muir Line, Harley – May 5 and 6, between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.
– Clarence Street Dental, 1325 Clarence St S #1, Brantford – May 8, between 9:45 a.m. and 12:40 p.m.
The risk applies to people born in 1970 or later who have not had measles and have not received two doses of a measles-containing vaccine.
Those exposed may reduce the risk of infection by receiving the MMR vaccine within 72 hours. In some cases, such as for infants, pregnant individuals, or people with weakened immune systems, immunoglobulin may be offered up to six days after exposure.
Anyone who was at either location during the listed times is asked to complete a measles exposure form at www.geph.ca/measlesform. Public health staff will follow up to assess individual risk and provide guidance.
More information on measles symptoms and what to do if exposed is available at www.bchu.org/measles and www.hnhu.org/measles.
Grand Erie Public Health was formed in January 2025 through the merger of the Brant County and Haldimand-Norfolk health units.
