The City of Brantford is marking Seniors Month this June with the return of its Healthy Aging Passport, offering a full calendar of free programs and activities for residents aged 55 and older.
Running from June 2 to June 30, the initiative provides older adults with opportunities to participate in educational workshops, cultural experiences, wellness classes, and social events at various locations across the city.
This year’s Passport is offered in partnership with several community organizations, including the Brant Skills Centre, Brantford Public Library, Grand River Council on Aging, Grand River Community Health Centre, Bell Homestead, and Golden Age Management, among others.
Program highlights include:
- Chair yoga and protein-focused nutrition sessions
- Smartphone basics and legal workshops like “Powers of Attorney 101”
- Creative offerings such as a dreamcatcher workshop
- Social events including euchre and a summer music series
- Informational talks on survivor and caregiving benefits
“The Healthy Aging Passport is a fantastic way for seniors to get engaged, healthy, and connected,” said Mayor Kevin Davis. “I encourage all older adults in the community to take advantage of the many offerings this year’s passport has.”
The program is part of the city’s broader Healthy Aging Strategy, which aims to promote wellness and reduce social isolation among older residents. City officials say the initiative not only encourages active lifestyles but also helps strengthen community connections.
