A 49-year-old Brantford woman has died following a residential fire early Monday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at a home on Buchanan Crescent at approximately 7:45 a.m. on May 5. Brantford Fire, Brant County Paramedics, and officers from the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after reports of a structure fire.
The woman, a resident of the home, was transported to hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Three other adults who were also inside the residence at the time of the fire were taken to hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not been publicly disclosed.
The Brantford Police Service, working in conjunction with the Office of the Fire Marshal, has launched a criminal investigation into the cause of the fire. Authorities have not confirmed whether foul play is suspected.
