The Brantford and Area Sports Hall of Recognition has unveiled its 2025 class of inductees, honouring a diverse group of athletes, coaches, and contributors who have made a lasting impact on sport in the region.
The six new honourees will be formally celebrated during the annual Sports Hall Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Best Western Brantford Hotel and Conference Centre.
This year’s class includes standout athletes in basketball, football and golf, as well as influential builders in swimming, hockey, and sports journalism.
The 2025 inductees are:
• Liz Hart – Athlete, Basketball
• Jennifer Kirby – Athlete, Golf
• Mike Filer – Athlete, Football
• Suzanne Paulins – Builder, Swimming
• Scott Rex – Honouree, Builder, Hockey
• Brian Smiley – Honouree, Builder, Sports Journalism
The Sports Hall, located within the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, celebrates athletes and builders from Brantford, the County of Brant, Six Nations of the Grand River, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who have excelled in sport and served their communities.
“The Class of 2025 reflects the strength, diversity, and history of sport in our region,” said organizers in a joint statement. “Their contributions, both on and off the field, are inspiring and deserve recognition.”
The Hall features 3,000 square feet of exhibits, including a Wayne Gretzky tribute area, interactive displays, and a wall of recognition showcasing past inductees.
